Well, the weather was dire but the arboretum more than made up for it! What a lovely place and how wonderful to be able to take the dog too. A beautiful variety of trees and birds too. Would have spent longer exploring here if the weather had been a bit better. Recommend the café, menu looked good and not overpriced. Had tea and homemade cake which was delicious (nearly asked if they did doggy bags!)

This motoring and toy museum is a little gem in the heart of Bourton on the Water. I'm not normally particularly interested in cars so I was surprised how much I enjoyed our visit. We picked up one of the quiz sheets at the start of the tour and had great fun trying to name the people in the photographs suspended in some of the classic cars. The different eras represented in each of the showrooms were very well done and the museum is jam packed full of signs, cars and toys. I particularly liked the re-creation of the Radio Caroline studio and some of the toys which I remembered from the 70s! The whole tour takes about an hour.

It was time for a return visit to Birdland and we really enjoyed our visit after walking along the river and a meal at a dog friendly pub in the centre of Bourton. There were plenty of ducks for Holly to look at and the penguin talk and feed at 3pm was fun to watch if a little drawn out. We were lucky with the weather and so were able to sit on the outside tables and relax with a cuppa. There were no longer any trout in the ponds but still plenty of birds to see. The nature trail has been turned into a walk with plastic dinosaurs lurking in the bushes and you can make dinosaur sounds with some of the display boards. Not really for us but it was a highlight for the visiting children. Holly definitely enjoyed her time at Birdland.

Had a great day out at Westonbirt today. Holly loves off lead walkies through the wood! There are plenty of dog waste bins for her humans to clear up after her too. The cafe has a delightful covered verandah where you and your dog can relax after your walk. We heard Tom Odell sing some songs as he did some sound checks for his concert that evening. We were then all welcomed into the new dog friendly gift shop next to the cafe. Holly was given a dog biscuit by the kind man who runs the shop and there were loads of fantastic gifts for dog owners. A very welcome addition to the arboretum. Happy Shopping!

Penrhos a really beautiful mix of woodland and coast. There are lots of lovely little pebble beaches and a myriad of pathways through the woods. Loads of benches along the way and several picnic areas. Parking is free and there are toilets in the carpark. When I was there a burger van was in the carpark but I didn't try it. Really easy to get to from Holyhead and well sign posted.
